The power of mindset is well-documented in psychological research. For PTSD, studies show the critical importance of perspective when it comes to emotional processing. Someone who believes he was subjected to abuse or trauma in childhood displays the long-term neurological and psychological effects of trauma, whereas some one who does not believe he was abused does not suffer these effects— regardless of the objective circumstances of either child.


Similarly, two soldiers may live through the very same battle, and while one comes through relatively unscarred, the other develops insomnia, paranoia, dissociation and rage disorders. This has nothing to do with one person being weaker and another stronger; it has instead to do with how each viewed or defined the experience.


It’s our perceptions about our experience that make the decisive impact upon our psychological and emotional health— not anything intrinsic to the experience.


Practitioners can help point out the perspectives you are holding, and rehabilitate this perspective into one that better serves your well-being. Careful curation of your focus radically increases positive emotional health, which enhances your ability to manifest the life that you desire.

Negative Thought Patterns and How to Overcome

Many people have a difficult time recognizing these negative thought patterns themselves. When you are immersed in them, working with a certified practitioner or another form of outside perspective can help you accurately assess where you’re at and make a conscious plan to change or adjust your behavior to produce the desired outcome. 


Reframing your negative thoughts into positive thoughts takes time, but the first step is to figure out the root of the negative self-talk. This may be hard to do alone, or there may even be areas of your life that you aren’t aware are influencing your efforts towards your goals. 

If this is something you struggle with, there are many benefits of turning to your support system or a professional for help with creating space for more positive self-talk in your life.


For example, think about someone who is constantly fighting the same battles with their partner. Whether you’ve been that person, watched a friend or loved one go through it, or even just seen it on television, we all feel for people in those situations and wish we could show them our perspective. This is because as a person on the outside, we have a more objective outlook on the situation and can come to rational conclusions about how to resolve the issues that arise.

Emotions can be powerful, and people can easily be blinded by their emotions or misinterpret a situation because they're so focused on the positive emotions that they’re feeling, they ignore red flags or even make excuses for a behavior rather than acknowledging there's a problem and actually doing anything to change it. 


Manifestation and mindset coaches are trained in this kind of work. When they begin working with a new client, they’ll assess the situation using their training and past experiences to help you make (sometimes difficult) decisions to provide clarity and allow you to see the problem from a different angle. 


From an outside perspective, they can help provide clarity on issues since they aren’t emotionally attached to the matter.  They’ll work with you to develop coping skills and techniques to manage setbacks, and work with you to positively affect your overall mindset and approach to reaching your goals. 


Humans are unique in that we have the powerful ability to create and manifest just through doing and feeling. As we go about our lives, we interpret and create our reality based on our perception of each specific situation. 



Taking a negative thought or fear and finding the silver lining can have a dramatic impact on the lives we lead and the realities we create, although it’s only part of the big picture. There are many energies, techniques and influences that can improve or challenge your efforts towards reaching your goals, and understanding these elements that play a role can dramatically impact your results if you spend time to work with them.
